이번 전시를 통해 우리에게 처음 선보이는 JH의 작품은 역사라는 시간과 공간이라는 통합적인 축을 토대로 만들어진 좌표 평면내에 존재하고 있는 다양한 시대의 사건과 그 밖의 사회, 문화적인 아이콘을 편집해서 결합시킨 가상의 포토저널리즘이라는 독특한 형태의 양식을 가지고 있다. 또한, 패러디를 사용한 풍자는 현대 소비 사회와 자본주의, 글로벌리즘에 대한 냉소적인 시선을 보여주고 있는데, 이는 그래피티 아트의 사상적 기반이 되고 있는 어반 아트가 지니고 있는 문맥이라고 볼 수 있다. 결과적으로 이러한 허구의 르포르타쥬는 절대적인 진실과 거짓이라는 사회 통념의 규정을 모호하게 만들어 놓고 있으며, 그 가치 판단의 기준을 작가가 임의로 만들어 놓은 하나의 가상의 경계선으로 수렴시키고 있다. ● 관찰자의 시점이 이 경계선 상에 놓여 있는 비현실적이고 파편화된 이미지로 구성된 작품들을 바라보고 있으면, 바로 앞에 보이는 이미지의 실체가 어떠한 팩트에 기반을 두고 있는지 판단하기 어려운 상황에 놓이게 된다. 그리고, 그 의문은 우리가 지금까지 알고 있는 사실들이 과연 온전한 진실에 기초하고 있는 것인가라는 조금 더 광의적인 영역까지 인식을 확장시키게 된다. 어디까지가 진실이고, 어디까지가 거짓일까? 작가는 그 질문에 대한 답을 관람객의 몫으로 남겨두고 있다. ■ ART2513

JH's works shown to the public for the first time in this exhibition are unique in their form. JH delivers his(her) works through virtual photojournalism, where social and cultural events and icons of a variety of times and spaces in the history are edited and combined together just like coordinates on the temporal axis and spatial axis. JH also satirizes modern consumerism and capitalism in a sarcastic way by parodying existing works, which is in the context of urban art, spiritual groundwork of graffiti art. Fictitious reportage like this ultimately blurs the boundary of conventional wisdom over what is absolute truth and what is lie. Instead, it points to a virtual borderline in-between, which is the artist's own making. ● Laying an eye on JH's works composed of unrealistic and fragmented images on such a virtual borderline, gallery goers would find themselves questioning, "what is the factual ground of the image I am encountering now?" The question, thereby, helps expand horizon of awareness, by making them challenge the foundation of what they know as truth. Where does truth end and where does lie start? JH leaves the question to the audience.
