현대인들은 현실을 잠시 잊고 얼마 동안 미지의 세계에서 편안함과 여유로움을 즐기기위해 여행과 관광을 한다. 이러한 여행과 관광은 일상생활에서의 노동에 대한 보상으로서 개인과 사회구성원들에게 행복감을 불러일으켜주는 후기자본사회의 대표적 상품이다. 여행객은 일상에서 행복을 담보 받기 위해 자금을 지불하고 잠시 소극적 방법으로서의 일탈(여가)를 경험한다. ● 『Instant Break-away』展은 현대인들 개개인이 경험하는 임시적 일탈행위(임시적 여행과 관광)를 지속하고자 하는 개인의 심리를 담아낸 작업이다. 이 작업은 '환영, 환대, 접대'의 의미를 나타내는 인사말 'welcome'을 분절화하고 추상화하여 오브제를 만들었다. 그리고 아무런 꺼리낌 없이 호기심과 흥미를 유발하고 이데올로기를 전달하고 홍보하기 위한 수단으로 사용하는 광고의 방법을 차용하여 전시 작품을 구성하였다. ■ 유비호

Contemporary people travel and tour to enjoy comfort and leisure in unknown worlds. These trips are the primary commodities of post-capitalism which evoke pleasure in individuals and members of society as a reward for their everyday labors. Travelers experience this temporary, passive diversion through payment to secure pleasure in their daily life. ● 「Instant Break-away」exposes the mental state of individuals who want to continue the temporary diversions they are experiencing through daily life. It's an object that divides and abstracts the word 'Welcome' which stands for meanings like 'embracing, serving, hospitality'. Also it borrows various advertisement methods which are intended to induce curiosity and interest, and to communicate or publicize ideologies. ■ Biho Ryu
