Pumping Heart

2009 집을 열다Ⅴ 베이징-부산(Busan in Beijing) Pumping Heart ● 뉴폼(NEWFORM)은 부산을 중심으로 활동하는 20여명의 설치미술 작가들로 구성된 단체이다. 2003년 창립된 이후 매년 2~3회 현장을 직접 찾아 다니며 일반시민에게 가까이 다가가는 미술활동을 꾸준히 전개하고 있다. 특히 최근 3년간(2007~2009년) 뉴폼은 해외 작가들과의 전시를 통해 지속적인 교류의 장을 넓히고 있다. 자신만의 생활영역에서 눈을 돌려 외부와 적극적으로 소통하고자 기획된 프로젝트 『집을 열다』는 부산과 파리에서 총 4번의 전시를 가졌다. 이러한 그룹 뉴폼과 세계 다른 지역 작가들과의 만남을 통해, 모든 것의 시작은 바로 자신이었음을 인식하고, 이제 다시금 '나'를 조명하고자 한다. 『집을 열다』5번째 전시인 『Pumping Heart』는 역동적이고 긍정적 에너지를 가진 심장의 움직임을 상징하는 것으로 심장에서 Pumping된 따뜻한 피가 몸 속을 돌아 다시 심장으로 되돌아가며 생명을 불어넣듯, 서구를 중심으로 논의되고 있는 현대미술을 아시아의 한국, 그 중에서도 부산에서 활동하는 작가 자신을 중심으로 시선을 바꾸어 이야기 하려는 것이다. 이는 중심과 주변부라는 미술권력의 재배치를 주장하는 문제라기보다, 세계인들이 지구라는 공간에 함께 살아가듯 나와 그들의 심장에서부터 시작된 능동적이고 역동적인 힘을 함께 공유한다는 의미이다. 더욱이 이번 전시는 세계 미술의 새로운 심장으로 떠오르고 있는 북경에서 진행됨으로 인해 그러한 뉴폼의 가능성을 확인할 수 있는 좋은 계기가 될 것이다. ■ 그룹 뉴폼

2009 OPEN THE HOUSE Ⅴ(Busan in Beijing) Pumping Heart ● NEWFORM is an installation art group composed of over 20 members working in and around Busan. Since its foundation in 2003, NEWFORM has tried to keep popularizing art by holding on-the-spot exhibitions two to three times a year. ● Especially for the last three years from 2007 to 2009, it has continuously interacted with foreign artists through joint exhibitions with them. Under the project 『OPEN THE HOUSE』, designed to look away from its own territory and communicate actively with the outside world, four exhibitions have been held in Busan,KoreaandParis,France.Such meetings between NEWFORM and artists from another partof the world lead to the recognition that everything originates from self, resulting in focus on 'myself'once again. ● "Pumping Heart," the fifth exhibition of the project 『OPEN THE HOUSE』, symbolizes the beating of the heart full of dynamic and positive energy, with the intention of changing the focus of contemporary art from the West to Korea in Asia, especially artists themselves in Busan, like hot blood circulating through the body after being pumped from the heart and going back to the heart to put life into the body. ● It means people who share dynamic and positive power originated from their hearts and mine as they live together on earth, rather than insisting on the rearrangement of power in art; center and margin. In addition, this exhibition will be a good opportunity to confirm the potential NEWFORM has as it is hosted in Beijing whichis emerging as a new heart of globalart. ■ Group NEWFORM
