Nagative Landscape 2

수몰지구와 같이 인위적으로 조성되어진 자연환경은 일반적인 자연의 순리라는 것과는 다른 새로운 질서를 만들어 나가는 특성이 있다. 이렇듯 모든 것을 포용하여 조화를 이루고자 하는 대자연은 변화되어진 자연으로 인간의 몸에 기생하는 모습으로 인간과 문명에 대한 자연의 관용을 보여준다. 즉 인간이 만들어 낸 이기마저도 자연의 일부분으로 만들어 버리는 것이다. ● 도심에서 살아가는 나무 역시 그러하다. 도시의 나무는 인간을 위해 인간에 의해 뜨거운 아스팔트 위에서 태어나고 환경에 적응해 나가며 힘겹게 살아간다. 패이고 잘리며 콘크리트에 박힌 채 열섬현상에 매말라가며 계절의 변화에도 응하지 못한 채 괴사되어지고 있는 것이다.

이렇듯 도심에서의 나무는 더 이상 자연의 한 부분이 아니라 인간 삶의 장신구중 하나가 되어져 반짝이는 전구에 휘감긴 채 서 있는 것이다. 이렇듯 도심의 나무는 일반적인 숲속의 나무와는 다르게 환경을 극복해내며 기형적인 모습으로 변형되어졌다. 그래도 나무는 도시를 끌어안고 자연이 되고자 한다. ● 그렇게 도시는 공존이라는 상호연관의 생명을 지닌 것과 같이 모든 구조물들은 유기적으로 서로 연결되어 있고 강줄기는 도시의 혈류가 되어 도심을 가로지른다. 이와 같이 살아있는 도시는 그 속에 살고 있는 모든 개체를 자연으로 이끌어 간다. ● 사람들에게도 나무는 그들 삶의 오아시스가 된다.

나무로 변해가는 도시는 사람들의 가슴속에 내재되어져 있는 욕망의 흔적으로 그들 몸에 기생하듯이 사람들의 꿈과 함께 커나가기도 하는 것이다. 나무가 인간의 몸에서 그리고 건물이나 자동차 안에서 심지어는 타이어에서 자라나는 모습은 자연체의 일부분인 인간이 지닌 삶의 무게가 부조화된 자연이라는 바탕에서 새로이 형성되는 관계를 의미한다. 그리하여 도시라는 인공물은 새로운 의미의 또 다른 하나의 거대한 생명체로써 풀과 나무로 뒤덮인 채 거대한 자연물이 되는 것이고 이에 따라 흐르는 물줄기는 그 생명의 근간이 되는 것이다. 이렇게 사람과 나무, 풀, 강물은 하나의 덩어리가 되어 자연이 되어 간다. 결국 자연은 이 모든 변화를 모두 아우르는 거대한 포용력의 자연으로 그 자리에 아무말 없이 그곳에 있는 것이다. ■ 안원태

The tree sunk by man in the water lives in different way to maintain its life and to change itself. It is natural as if it has always been so although the tree transformed into a new method that I have never seen before. And the ambilaterality of 'life and death' of the water makes even the appearance of the tree transformed. ● For this reason, the writer is interested in artificial life of the nature where the new order is formed in the correlation between generation and extinction. India ink has the equivalent methodology to this newly formed order. The painting methodology of India ink and based on the oriental view of the nature, I called it the 'Negative landscape'. The tree filled with chills of damp with water has maintained its life making itself white by a changing of chlorophyll. The branches made by such a tree tells the vitality by showing grotesque gestures and they also symbolize the weigh of their lives at the same time. ● Artificially created natural environment like submerged districts is characterized by forming the new order is different from the pure reason of the general nature. Nature tries to include all things and harmonize them by showing tolerance toward Man and Civilization changing itself in the form of living on human body. Namely, it makes even a convenience made by man part of the nature. The same thing applies to the tree living at the center of the city. The urban tree which is born on the hot asphalt by man lives in difficulty, adapting itself to the environment around them. It is dying by a mysterious death of split, cut, stuck in concrete, dried up by a heat-island phenomenon and not even responding to a seasonal change. For this, the tree at the heart of the city is no longer part of nature but becomes one of the ornaments in human life and stands surrounded by blinking bulbs. The tree at the heart of the city has been malfromed overcoming the environment unlike the tree in the forest. Nevertheless, it wants to embrace the city and to become the nature. ● The city bears interrelated life called coexistence to that extent, all constructs are organically connected with one another and a river intersects the heart of a city becoming its blood stream. A living city leads all the individuals living in it to the nature. ● To people, a tree becomes an oasis in their lives. As a trace of the desire internal to people's bosoms, a city changing into a tree also grows up with their dreams as if it lived on their bodies. A tree grows on human body and in a building or car or even on a tire means the newly formed relation on the basis of disharmonized nature by the weight of life which man as part of nature has. Therefore, an artifact called a city becomes a huge natural object covered with grasses and trees as another gigantic living thing in a new sense and a watercourse flowing along it becomes the basis of its life. Like it, man, a tree, grass and the river that gather into one mass become nature. Finally, nature of great broad-mindedness which puts together all these changes placed silently. ■ ANWEONTAE
