Giving Up, and Holding ... ● 포기 못하는 무언가에 홀린 것 같은 high heel 신은 사람들의 심리는 보다 높은 곳을 바라보며 높고 자신 있는 위치에 자신 스스로를 두려한다. 그러나 이런 심리의 깊은 곳에는 두려움이 자리하고 있다. 인정받지 못할지 모른다는, 잊혀 질지 모른다는 두려움과 자신의 존재의 허무에 대한 두려움으로 어딘가에 비워있는 공허를 끝없이 채우려 한다. 하지만 이러한 마음의 빈 공간은 결국 스스로가 채울 수 없는 것이며, 외부의 긍정적 에너지로만 채울 수 있다는 결론에 도달하게 되며 포기 못하고 잡고 있는 모든 집착을 버렸을 때, 채울 수 있음을 깨닫게 된다. 인간의 만족의 근원은 간직하고 지켜나갈 것이 있는 삶의 모습 속에 있는지 모른다. 무엇을 포기하고 버리며, 무엇을 간직하고 소중히 여기냐에 따라 그 삶의 가치는 확연히 달라지게 되어있다. 마음과 생각을 지켜, 믿음을 잃어버리지 않는 삶을 살아가는 것은 세상 속에서 처절한 싸움을 야기한다. 이러한 싸움 끝에, 극복해내는 자의 모습은 왕관을 쓰고 영광스런 자리로 헤엄쳐가는 모습일 것이다.

언제부터인가 하얀색의 Octopus 들은 High Heel 에 살기 시작하였다. 그들이 지내기에 편치 않은 곳이었음에도 그들은 결코 포기 할 수 없는 어떠한 이유로 그곳에 계속 머무르고자 했다./ 언젠가 불편함으로 떠나갈 곳 / 어울리지 않은 곳 / 부적절한 선택과 편치 않은 마음 / 무겁게 지탱해야할 많은 조건들 / 달아서 없어지는 곳 / 높아진 마음 / 하얀색의 Octopus들에게 있어 High Heel 이란 곳은 이런 것이었다. / 그들은 얽히고설킨 감당할 수 없는 많은 이유들로 사로잡혀 그곳에 살아가지만, 어느 순간 떠나가야 할 곳임을 인식하기 시작한다. 숨이 끊어지기 전에 그 머물기 힘든 곳을 벗어나길 바라는 다니엘의 이야기이다. ■ 다니엘 경

White octopuses started to live in high heels. High heels were not the place that they could comfortably stay but they tried to stay there for some reasons that they could never give up. ● Place to Leave due to Uncomfortableness Some Day Ill-Matching Place Inappropriate Choice and Uneasy Feeling Many Burdensome Conditions that should be Sustained Worn-Off Place Mind with Higher Expectation ● For white octopuses, the high heels were the places described as the above. They came to live in the high heels for many intertwined reasons that they could not deal well with, but at one point, they started to understand that it was a place for them to leave. It is a story of Daniel who wishes to leave such an uncomfortable place before he breathes his last breath.

The mentality of those who wear high heels as if they are obsessed with something that they cannot give up is to look for superior status and place themselves in a higher and more confident standing. However, deep inside of such mentality lies a fear: a fear that they might not be recognized and that they might be forgotten, and a fear of nothingness in self-existence, which leads them to try to fill a feeling of emptiness by means of something. Such a feeling emptiness in mind, unfortunately, cannot be filled by themselves but only by positive energy of outside. Finally, they apprehend that the emptiness can only be filled when they abandon all obsession they hold. Origin of human satisfaction may lie in the features of life in which something to hold and guard remains. The value of life differs greatly, depending on what you may give up or abandon, and what you may hold and safeguard. Living the life in a way that keeps one's thoughts, without losing faith, cause a fierce struggle. The image of the one who conquers such a struggle may be something like swimming toward a glorious standing in a crown.

Rays, quietly swimming into a sumptuous palace, are wearing a crown. While they lived the life being treated in contempt, persecution and hardship, their whole body colored red. Red-colored rays are heading toward the standing where those who keep their thoughts and faith win. It is the place where all tears are dried, the place where no death exists, neither grief, lamentation or a pain. Daniel imagined the feature of those who keep the faith that invisible things become real facts as red rays, and expresses that those with such faith are the winner. Those who win, after all, will swim calmly in a brilliant crown, according to Daniel's story. ■ Daniel Kyong
