『소통과 사색』展 ● 우리는 나 자신조차도 잘 알지 못하는 이상에 대한 꿈, 어쩌면 기억에 대한 왜곡으로 뭔가 채워지지 않은 갈증과 각자 다른 기억 속에서 살아가고 있다. 나는 우리의 이런 모습을 금붕어를 통해 표현하게 되었다. 금붕어는 움직임은 자유롭다, 유리관 안에 갇혀 있지만 그 인지조차 못하여 아무리 작은 공간속에 있어도 눈에 비춰지는 넓은 세상을 보며, 착각 속 에 살아간다고 한다. 우리 역시 신에겐 하나의 작은 별에 지나지 않은 공간속에 살고 있지만, 각자의 우주를 안고 이상을 향해 자신만의 파라다이스를 꿈꾸며 헤엄치고 있는지 모르겠다. 이렇게 시작된 나의 작업은 지난날에 기억의 조각을 넘어 하나의 독립된 별이 되어 우주를 거닐게 되었다. 조용한 물고기들을 바라보며 언어역시도 소통을 위한 표현일 뿐, 본질은 아닐 것이다. 소리가 없다는 것은 어쩌면 표현의 한계성을 넘은 그 이상으로 나에게 다가 온다. 무언의 소통으로 나의 그림일기 한쪽을 보여 주듯 개개인에게는 또 다른 의미의 가벼운 물음으로 생각을 환기시키고 기억 속에 물고기 한 마리를 떠올릴 수 있는 시간이 되기를 바란다. ■ 최누리

『Communication and Meditation』 ● We are living in the midst of vision we ourselves can't clearly understand, and of maybe unending thirsty can't be filled due to our distorted remembrance with individually different memories. So I express these images through goldfishes. The goldfishes move freely. It is said that they live under the illusion the outside world is theirs looking at the world widely unfolded, trapped in a small glass tube, even without noticing. We also live in a place, just a small star to God, but we dream our own paradise and swim toward the vision holding one's universe. My work started from this has come to walk on the Universe as an independent star beyond the fragments of past memories. I realize, looking at quiet fishes, even language is just an expression device for communication, not a substance. This silence is more than expression to me beyond limitation. As showing a part of my picture diary through a silent communication, I hope it is the time people can refresh their own thoughts by putting a simple question having a different meaning and recall a fish from memories. ■ CHOINOORI
