2억 5000만년 경 암모나이트, 홍해 바다 깊은 곳의 산호초, 알래스카의 높은 산악지대의 돌산양... 나는 경계 없이 세상을 넘나들며 시간 여행을 시작한다. 변치 않고 오래 지속되는 것에 관심을 가지고 인물이나, 사물, 동물, 자연의 표현에 있어 상호간의 어떤 상징적인 의미를 암시하거나 계시하기도 하고 실제적인 것으로 형상화 시켜서 전달이 가능한 이미지로 표현한다. 그러한 상징적 이미지와 더불어 인간중심의 세상에서 벗어난 생물들이 분리 또는 합체되어 변형되고 절대 혼자가 아닌 그들끼리 어울리며 자연과 조화를 이룬다. 이곳은 또 다른 세상이다. 작품에 주로 등장하는 머리카락과 동물의 뿔은 내가 살고 있는 세상과 또 다른 세상을 이어주는 매개체이며 병렬적이고 서술적인 이야기는 자기 고백적이라는 점에서 나의 정신성을 드러내 신비스런 주문으로 마술적 의의를 지닌다. 모든 것에는 영혼이 존재한다. 숲이나 나무, 풀, 물 생명력을 가지고 있는 것 이외에 무생물에게도 생명력을 부여하고 개인적인 경험과 기억을 바탕으로 공간의 이동과 사물의 병치, 은유적인 표현들은 영원한 삶을 추구한다. 나만의 세상에서 누군가를 위한 세상 혹은 그들만을 위한 세상으로 계속해서 연결되고 나는 이것을 통해 세계를 이해하고 소통하며 미래를 상상 한다. ■ 아나샘

The Ammonites 250 million years ago, the coral reefs deep in Red Sea, the rock antelope high on the mountains in Alaska.... I cross the boundaries of the world, starting a time travel with them. I am interested in the things which have sustained long, not changing. I express objects, animals and nature by hinting or revealing some mutually symbolic meanings among them or shaping them to be expressed as deliverable images. Together with such symbolic images, the lifes departing from the human-centered world are separated from each other or united with each other to be varied. They are never alone. They get along with each other, striking a harmony with the nature. This is another world. The hairs and animal horns appearing much in my works are the media linking my world with another world. And because the descriptive stories in parallel are self-confessing, they reveal my spirituality, signifying some magical meaning with a mysterious spell. A soul exists in everything. My works attach a strength of life to other lifeless things such as forest, trees, grass and water. The metaphoric expressions as well as the movement of the space and the juxtaposition of the things all pursue an eternal life. I continue to link my own world with a world for someone or the worlds only for them, and therethrough, I understand the world, communicate with it and imagine the future. ■ ANASAEM
