레미니슨스 (Reminiscence)

고정남, 임지원, 최은식은 일본의 토쿄공예대학에서 사진을 공부한 후 한국에 귀국했다. 이번 전시회는 그들의「머릿속에 남겨진 시간속의 공간과 기억」이 테마이다. 구체적으로 눈앞에 보여지는 것은 그들이 일본 체류중에 본 거리나 인물, 체험한 사건의 사진이다. 그것들을 촬영하고 나서 어느 일정한 시간이 지난 후 어떤 상황으로 셔터를 눌렀는지 기억은 이미 희미해져 있을 것이다. 그럼에도 불구하고 사진은 선명하고 뚜렷하게「그 장소」와「그 시간」의 이미지를 떠오르게 하고 있다. 그것의 불가사의함, 인간의 기억과 사진에 봉할 수 있었던 기억과의 사이의 엇갈림이 그들에게 매우 강한 인상을 주었을 것이다. 그들이 지금 일본이 아닌 한국에 있어 그 엇갈림은 한층 더 증폭한다. 여기에 보여지는 광경이나 사건이 정말로 있었던 것인지 확인하려 해도 물리적인 거리가 그것을 막는다. 사진에서 보여지는 것은 허무하고 무상한 인간의 기억을 초월해 간다--그것을 재차 강하게 느끼게 해 주는 전시회이다. ■ 이이자와 고타로

Reminiscence展に寄せて ● 高正男、林知遠、崔殷植は、日本の東京工芸大学で写真を学び、その後、韓国に帰国した。今回の展覧会は、彼らの「頭の中に残された時間の中の空間と記憶」がテㅡマになっている。具体的に目の前にあらわれるのは、彼らが日本滞在中に見た街や人物、体験した出来事の写真である。それらを撮影してから、ある一定の時間が過ぎ去り、どんな状況でシャッタㅡを切ったのかという記憶は既に薄れているはずだ。にもかかわらず、写真は鮮明に、くっきりと「その場所」の「その時間」のイメ-ジを浮かび上がらせている。そのことの不思議さ、人間の記憶と写真に封じ込められた記憶との間のズレが、彼らにとても強い印象を与えたのだろう。彼らがいま日本ではなく韓国にいることが、そのズレをさらに増幅する。ここに写っている光景や出来事が、本当にあったことなのか、確認しようにも物理的な距離がそれを阻む。写真に写ったものは、脆く、はかない人間の記憶を超えて生き続ける―─そのことをあらためて強く感じさせてくれる展覧会だ。■ 飯澤耕太郎

Reminiscence Exhibition ● Ko, Jung-nam, Lim, Ji-Won and Choi, Eun-Sik returned to Korea after studying photography at the Tokyo Polytechnic University in Japan. This exhibition is based on theme, 「The Space and Memory Left Behind in the Brain Amidst the Time」. The photographs of the streets, figures and experiences that they saw in Japan are visible in detail. Their memory on when they took these photos, under which circumstances may be obscure to them after specific period of time lapses by. Despite this, however, photos are clear, conjuring up the image of 「that space」 and 「that time」. The cross-path of the wonder, and the memory that can be captured in the memory of the human beings and in the photos must have left a very powerful image on them. This cross-path is expanded even more since they are in Korea, not in Japan. Physical distance blocks it even when there is an attempt to check whether the sceneries that are shown and incidents really took place. What is shown on the photos surpass the empty and uncertain memory of the human beings ─This is the exhibition that makes one feel this once again ■ Iizawa Kotaro
