지연정의 근작 : (ART LEADER MIX & MATCH) 에 부쳐 ● 팝아트는 현대 산업사회의 특징인 대중문화 속에 등장하는 이미지를 미술로 수용한 사조로 예술성 자체의 의미라기보다는 광고, 산업디자인, 사진술, 영화 등과 같은 대중 예술매개체의 유행성에 대한 새로운 태도에 대해 언급된 명칭이다. '팝 pop'이라는 명칭에 대해서는 여러가지 경향이 있지만 'popular'의 약자로 보는 경향이 유력하다. 즉 통속적인 이미지, 다시 말해서 일상생활에 범람하는 기성의 이미지에서 제재(題材)를 취했던 이 경향의 특징을 압축적으로 표현한 용어이다. 팝아트의 특징은 '개방' 과 '비개성' 으로 집약된다. 이미지의 대중화, 형상의 복제, 표현 기법의 보편화 등에 의해 예술을 개인적인 것에서 대중적인 것으로 개방시킨다. 팝 이미지는 광고, 상표, 만화, 영화 등의 대중적 이미지를 한번 더 보기 위한 시각적인 재현으로 대중적인 이미지를 받아들이는 현대 인간의 감수성을 의식화한 것이다. 또한 화면에 나타난 이미지는 구상적이지만 회화적 사고 그 자체는 추상성이 강하다. 팝아트 작가들은 일상의 이미지를 인용하는 데 그치지 않고, 그것을 기호나 기호체계로 사용한다. 특히 앤디 워홀, 로이 리히텐스타인, 클래스 올덴버그 등은 사회가 익히 알고 있는 것들 예를 들면, 마릴린 먼로의 얼굴, 미키 마우스의 이미지, 세븐 업의 트레이드 마크, 그리고 디크트레이시의 연속만화 따위를 작품에 도입함으로써 기호체계와 그들 자신의 테마를 겹쳐서 표현 했다. 이들에 의해 대중적인 호응을 얻은 팝아트를 나 또한 새로운 화풍으로 펼쳐나가고 싶다.

지연정의 팝아트 회화 ● 우선 작가가 주재료로 사용하고 있는 "직물"은 현대인들의 삶가운데 자리잡고 있는 의,식,주 중의 하나이다.인간의 삶의 한 일면을 은유하면서, 복잡함과 편리함, 그리고 산업화로 얼룩진 이 시대의 정서를 어느 정도 담고 있다. 우선 지연정의 회화에서 느낄 수 있는 표현방식은 가벼운 필치에 의한 캐릭터가 돋보인다. 그것은 팝아트 작가인 톰 웨셀만(Tom Wesselmann)의 유머러스한 여인의 이미지를 연상시키기도 한다. 그래서, 작가의 방식은 우리시대의 도시문명 즉, 우리 시대의 물질들을 사용하여 새로운 창작의 원리를 선사하고 있다. 그래서 촉각적인 오브제들과 화면 구성방식에서 매우 현대적인 조형의 원리를 바탕으로 하고 있다.

촉각적 오브제 ● 작가는 단추, 직물, 프린팅, 텍스처 라이너, 부드러운 촉감의 솜 등 일상적인 에피소드들을 은유적으로 드러내었다. 전달 하고자 하는 내용들이 가급적이면 시각적으로 부담스럽지 않은 방식으로 표현하였다. 부드러운 유년기적인 여성성을 드러냄으로서, 그것이 아동화의 기법으로 여과되어 등장하는 식의 표현법으로 전환시켜 놓았다. 소망보고서 ● 대다수의 인물들은 얼굴의 표정이나 몸매 그리고 옷차림 등으로 구분이 가능하지만, 그것은 성격의 묘사에 주력하거나 특정한 인물을 지칭하는 기호가 되지 않는다. 그래서 그것은 도발적인 앙증맞음이며 색채의 향연이자 이미지의 파격이며 ,화려한 노래로서 작품의 모티브를 만들어 가는 것이다. ■ 박기웅

YONJEONG CHI(recent work):CHI has used the colors of red and green series ,which are ● After 1990s, Barbara Kruger, Jenny Holzer and several artists have shown the social message with posters, bench, sign boards in the wide open spaces or streets, which meant that new Feminism arts were beginning. Beyond the border of USA, international feminism arts were spread to the 3rd world women: Asia and Africa and mid-east world. In South Korea after 1980's, Kim Soo-Ja, Lee Bul, and Kim Nan-Young had shown their feminism arts. However, the flood was not easy to spread widely. But recently, several women artists are showing new style of Feminism art, like Chi Yon-jeong. Her method is not serious, so is not same as 20century feminism art, but is 21st Century's Feminism art to show humorous concept like children style of representation. Like Tom Wesselmann, she represents only lip in the face and the other eye and nose are erased. Even though she represents luxury women in her paintings, the character is not serious but is the character as same as children sketch and the costume is described as the symbol of contemporary women; the head is bigger than body and the posture is widely open to the men. She named the style as the (Art Leader Mix &match?)as the report to the men of freedom of women, which is included women's happiness and strong desire; and sometime the report is contained the claim and resistance to the mes's power. Chi has used the colors of red and green series, which are quite contrast to each other; it is like Fauvism colors so is little different from regular Feminism taste. However, with using strong colors, she has giving more powerful claims to the spectators, Finally, the report is to represent the character of mes's mother, sisters.
