빛 Light

가지만 있는 겨울나무에 잎이 달리고, 눈처럼 하얀 풍경에 흰 그림자 같은 풀잎들이 무성하다. 시간적으로 한 화면에 담을 수 없는 그림이지만 나무에 잎이 나고 땅에 풀이 돋는 것은 자연스러운 일이다. 불교의 우주관에는 성겁(成劫), 주겁(住劫), 괴겁(壞劫), 공겁(空劫)이 있다. 이들은 반복적으로 회전한다. 그러한 차원에서 자연은 시공(時空)을 초월한다. 이것은 다시 때에 따라 모이고 흩어지는 인연법(因緣法) 과 색즉시공(色卽是空)의 개념과도 일맥상통한다. 무엇인가 눈에 보이지 않는 수목(樹木)의 영혼인 하얀 실루엣은 나와 그들의 직관적인 소통을 나타낸다. 그것은 계절이나 발현되어 지는 형태가 중요하지 않다. 겨울의 선(線)적인 요소와 여름의 면(面)적인 요소로 만들어 내는 자연의 무한대의 조형감으로 나는 아직 특별히 다른 재료적인 기법을 필요로 하지 않는다. ■ 이지연

Leaves dangle from a winter tree with branches only, and the ground is thick with blades of grass like white shadows against white landscape like snow. The landscape cannot temporally be expressed as one picture, but it is natural that leaves should come out from a tree and that grass should grow from the ground. ● Buddhist vision of the universe involves becoming, residence, decay and emptiness. They rotate repeatedly. On such a dimension nature transcends space-time. Again, it has something to do with the law of cause and conditions of gathering and scattering as occasion requires and the concept that form is nothing other than emptiness. ● The white silhouette as the soul of a tree that is something invisible expresses the intuitive communication between me and them. It is not important in season or revealed form. ● I do not yet need any specially different material techniques with natural infinite sense of plasticity produced with winter linear elements and summer planar elements. ■ LEEJIYUN
