표정의 심연층

사람들은 삶을 살아가는 과정과 사건에 따라 겪게 되는 다양한 삶의 굴곡 속에서 서로 다른 표정을 지으며 살아가게 된다. 그 가운데 우리들 각자는 우리가 만나게 되는 여러 사람들의 표정을 비추게 되는데, 서로에게 비추었던 그 표정들은 마음 깊은 곳 어딘가에 흔적을 남기고 서로 뒤엉켜 살아 꿈틀거린다. 그리고 그 밑바닥 깊은 곳에 녹아 있었던 여린 심성의 덩어리들과 접하게 되는 그 표정들과 함께 얼키고 설켜 새로운 형상들을 탄생시켜나간다. 뚜렷한 형상들을 지니지 않은 채 미세한 움직임들의 관계 속에서 그렇게 생명체들은 피어나고 살아 숨 쉬고 혹은 수면위로 드러나길 기다리다 시간의 흐름과 함께 희석되어 버리기도 한다. 각자 마음 깊은 곳에 미처 드러내지 못했던 그 어떤 표정들을 간직한 채... 자신의 주변을 둘러싼 표정의 풍경들을 비추어가고.. 하나씩 하나씩 그 어떤 표정들은 어느새 잠식되어 가고... 그렇게 겹겹이 누적되어 가는 그 표정들은 층층이 겹쳐져 간다. 나는 그 깊은 심연 층에 있을 그 무엇들을 살며시 꺼내다본다.

매일 매일 드로잉을 하는 나의 행위 속에서 그 형상들은 하나씩 하나씩 그 실체를 드러내며, 나의 삶이, 우리들의 삶이 만들어내는 그 풍경들을 이차원의 공간속에 펼쳐나간다. 선과 선의 겹쳐짐 속에서 피어나는 여러 형상들은 거대한 그물망의 형상을 보여주며, 예측할 수 없는 과정 속에서 살아 있는 에너지, 생명력이 숨 쉬는 관계망을 발견하고 살아 숨 쉬고 존재하기 위해 형성되는 유기적 관계망에 따라 이루어지는 이러한 생명력의 끊임없이 변화하는 순간들의 풍경들을 삼차원과 이차원의 공간속에 포착해 나간다. ■ 이재순

People tend to show diverse kinds of expressions on their faces within their lives full of unexpected changes. Each of us reflects the facial expressions ofthe people that we are faced with. They leave a deep impression on us and, in our minds, remain alive and intertwined with one and another. Through aninseparable combination of these expressive marks, emotions that have been melted into the deepest reaches of our soul come to construct new forms. ● Within a myriad of subtle vibrations, creatures devoid of any concrete shape or form are ready to bloom and breathe. Yet, in some cases they simply remain waiting below surface of the water and become diluted with the passage of time. Some of these expressions are kept hidden deep in the bottom of each of our minds continuously reflecting the landscapes of the facial visages that surround us. One by one they are interrupted and intruded upon becoming multi-layered and piled atop one another. I take out things out of the reaches of this abyss and carefully inspect them. ● Through my daily routine of drawing, these various expressions turn into more and more specific forms and my life becomes transformed into a two-dimensional space like the landscape of life. The variety of shapes formed by the intersections of lines reveal a huge net-like form that exudes an unpredictable, yet vibrantly alive energy. The landscape of these continuously transient moments held within our life force is quite captivating within the realm of two-dimensionality as well as three-dimensionality. ■ LEEJAESOON
