자아가 있는 풍경 ● 그녀가 보는 풍경에는 그녀가 있다. ● 사진가는 눈으로만 대상을 말하는 듯 보이지만 사실 그 대상을 포착해 내는 데에는 사진가 자신의 여러 단상과 의지가 있다. 그 단상은 사회의 한 맥락 안에 있기도 하고 자신의 세계 안에 있기도 하다. 세계의 안과 밖은 차이이지만 동전의 앞뒤처럼 사진가의 눈과 카메라의 프레임에 의해 절제되고 차단되어 사람들 앞에 나선다는 공통점이 존재한다.

이버들이의 세상 밖에서의 자아찾기는 철저하게 그녀의 가슴과 머리 속에서만 움직이고 있지만 끊임없이 자신을 배제한 그 곳, 그 사람, 그 공간에 있다. 내가 없는 것에서 나를 찾는 일, 그것은 결코 쉽지 않다. 자신을 모르면서 남을 안다고 말하거나 자신도 믿지 않으면서 남에게 믿을 수 없다고 말하는 것처럼 우리는 가능하지 않은 말들과 행동을 수 없이 하고 살아간다. 그렇지만 그렇다고 해서 자신을 믿을 수 있을 때까지, 자신을 온건히 알 때까지 타인을 바라 보기만 하고 살 수는 없는 문제다. 인간관계라는 것이 그래서 복잡하고 어려우며 결론 또한 명확하지 않다. ● 사진가는 너무도 어린 나이에 그것을 깨달은 듯, 사진기를 손에 잡고 이미지를 스스로 재생해 내는 과정을 배우기 시작하면서부터 자아를 타인에게서 찾아왔다. 체계화된 사회 안에서 인간이 성장한다는 것을 믿지 않았지만 사진가는, 그렇게 끊임없이 자기 밖의 세계와 긴장을 유지하며 사진을 매개로 관계를 맺어왔다. 누구보다도 적극적인 삶의 움직임이다. ● 사진의 역할 중 하나가 증거물로써 존재하는 것이다. 그것이 그 자리에 있었다, 그 일이 그렇게 발생했다 등등을 말했던 거다. 이제는 사진이 진실을 말한다는 것에 진심이 아닌 시대에 있지만 하여간 사진의 역할은 그러했다. 그녀는 보이지 않게 사진으로 자기 자신을 알아가는 증거물을 하나씩 쌓아간다. 처음 개인전에서는 막혀진 공간 안에서 타인을 통해 자기를 찾았다면 지금은 그 막혀진 공간에서 열려진 공간으로의 탈출을 시도한다. 자신이 누구인지 자신이 어디에 있는지 하나하나 반복해 가며 혹은 반복에 살짝 비켜가며 그 사람, 그 공간, 그 것에서 자신을 발견해 가는 것이다.

빌렘 플루서는 사진기는 사진찍기를 먹이를 기다리는 맹수의 이빨을 가지고 있다고 말했다. 사진기의 대상찾기는 애타게 기다리면서 사태에 뛰어드는 맹수적 본성에서 비롯된 것이라 하면서 사진기를 장치의 원형이라고 말한다. 존재하는 자연으로부터 산출된 사물인 이 장치는 그녀의 그러한 행동들, 마치 감성에만 근거한 듯 한 자아찾기를 사진으로 현실에 놓아 두는 것이다. 장치의 상상력은 사진가의 그것보다 크며 잘 가공된 사진프로그램의 부분으로써 존재하고 있다. 그녀는 그것을 잘 안다. 따라서 지금은 여기까지 자아를 표출해 낼 수 있고 과거에는 거기까지 였으며 앞으로는 어디까지 일 수 있을까 자문하고 반문할 수 있는 것이다. 자기를 누구보다 잘 안다고 대부분의 인간이 자신하지만 살아가면 갈 수록 알아가면 갈 수록 점점 모르는게 많아지는 것이 삶이고 현실이다. 그렇지만 우리는 어떤 방식으로든 자기를 깨우치고 싶어한다. 인생의 끝자락에서 그것에 후회가 따르든 만족이 따르든 지금으로써는 알 길이 없다. 사진가는 아직 개척되지 않은 가능성들을 사진기를 가지고 사진으로 타진하고 있다. ● 이버들이는 사진을 통해 자기의 실재와 관념을 현실화한다. 인간이 사회 속에서 성장한다는 것을 부정하는 그녀지만 그녀의 그런 강한 부정이 사진기를 들이대는 움직임을 만드는 것이다. 누구나 찾고자 하는 자아 그러나 어떻게 찾아야 하는지 혹은 찾을 자아는 있는지 조차 반문해 보는 우리들에게 그녀는 자아가 있는 풍경으로 눈을 돌리라고 속삭이고 있는 것이다. ■ 이수진

The landscape is with self-ego ● She exists inside the landscape where she looks at it. ● The photographer appears to express her eyes, in fact there are some possibilities and wills of her own self for the sake of catch the object. These possibilities, a kind of clue for catch the object and included in social connection or in existence into the world of her self. The internal and external world of her self has in common with that is revealed to people when it temperate and interrupted by photographer's eyes and camera frame, such as back and forth of coin. ● Budullee Lee's finding self-ego outside of the world is moving into her mind and brain thoroughly, but, which is inside there, the other people and the space to the exclusion of her self. That is not easy at all the looking for me from that I am out. We live with made undue remarks and acted behaviors in large numbers, for example, said that I know or believe the others gut actually I don't know who am I or I don't believe myself. While we cannot live only looking on the others until when we know our own exactly. It is very complicated and difficult, what called human relationships, also conclusion is not clear. ● The photographer found it at an early age, she trying to find her ego by the other people from when she begin to learning to process of making images handing a camera. Even if she doesn't believe human is growing in the society, but this photographer keeps up this relationship use of photography with stay in tensions. It is an active movement for life that is second to none. ● The existence as evidences, it is one of the things requires of a photography. It means that was in existence at the place or was the way the event occurred. Now, it is absolutely untrue that photography is telling the truth, but a part of role still has. She is store evidences of realizing her self one at a time and secretly by photography. Her early works, these could be seen her first solo exhibition, tried to find for self-ego from the other people is in barred space but now she attempt to get away from it. She found herself for the people, the space, and the thing with the constant question about who am I and where am I from or by a dodge of matters. ● Vilem Flusser(1920-1991) said that "camera has teeth of a savage beast wait for prey". Finding the object came from nature of a savage beast is hungry for the target after acting on, adding that camera is the original form of device. This device as an instrument from natural being translate her actions which is the finding herself only based on her sentiment into reality. Imagination of device is much lager than photographer and it exists as partly of refined photo program. She knows about this. So she needs to keep asking herself such as she has been express to self-ego, it was limited to that in the past, and how is able to create herself in the coming. Most people have confidence of that they know themselves than anybody else but on the road ahead, it is increasingly that we didn't know before. This is the life. We would like to know our own try which we method, though. We can never tell what will happen at the last moment of lifetime. The photographer still pointed at the possibilities with her camera. ● Buddullee Lee turns her idea and existence into reality by camera. She denying that human is growing in the society but this high-powered contradiction makes her moving to take photo. The self-ego which is everyone's will, but we don't know how to find or to be the ego which have to find. She says to us whispery that just try looking at the landscape with self-ego. ■ Lee, Su Jin
